Helping you plan the most magical Disney vacation

Disney Park Must-Haves

We often spend so much time trying to figure out what to put in our suitcases when planning for a Disney vacation.  But we find ourselves scrambling at 6am on our first park day trying to figure out what we actually need in the park vs. what can stay in our room. Looking for a cheat sheet for what you need for your park days? Check out my guide for top 10 most important items to bring for your disney park day.

  1. A durable backpack with pockets

No one likes wrestling with a broken zipper or searching for their phone in a bottomless pit. That’s why it’s so important to bring a backpack that can stand up to a lot of use and has pockets so you can easily find important items. I love bringing loungefly backpacks on my Disney vacations. Loungefly sells the cutest Disney themed backpack and many of them have pockets on the sides, front, and inside of the bag which makes it so easy to find things quickly.

Savings Tip: The loungefly website and Disney stores sell bags for as much as $80-$120! If you are looking to save, check out Amazon. They often have sales on Loungefly backpacks and I have found bags for as little as $40!

  1. Multiple disposable ponchos

I am not exaggerating when I say that Orlando, FL weather can go from blue skies to torrential downpour in 5 minutes! Having disposable ponchos will keep you and your family dry during unexpected rainstorms, they are much easier to pack than umbrellas.

  1. Hand Sanitizer

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that we live in a world of germs! Having hand sanitizer will give you peace of mind as your reach for your next Disney World snack and will keep you and your family healthy as you enjoy your vacation

  1. Portable phone charger

This is one of those items that you don’t need until you REALLY need it. Your phone is going to use up a lot of battery power as you snap pictures, take videos, and scroll your MyDisney app through your park day. You can avoid missing out on incredible photo ops by having a portable phone charger on hand!

  1. Minnie Ear Holder

Many rides at Disney World require you to take off hats and Minnie Ears before you ride. If you love wearing Minnie Ears in the parks like I do, that can be a hassle!  When you’ve spent time and money finding the perfect pair of ears the last thing you want to do is throw them on the floor or shove them in your backpack during the ride. That’s why I absolutely LOVE my Minnie ear holder! It attaches to my backpack like a keychain and I can easily clip on/off my ears!

  1. Snacks

Did you know that you can bring your own food into the parks with you? This can save you money and stress if you or your kids get the munchies or you have a restricted diet! When I visited Disney World during my pregnancy I was constantly reaching into my backpack for a snack, it made the whole trip so much easier!

  1. Antacid Tablets (Tums)

Let’s be real, Disney World is the land of magic but its also the land of tummy aches 😩 A week of the delicious cheesy, fried, and bready foods offered at the DIsney parks usually results in a tummy ache for me at some point. Keeping Tums on hand gives me the freedom to keep enjoying my day even when a tummy ache strikes!

  1. Mini Fan

Florida is hot for most of the year. Do yourself a favor, get a mini fan that fits in your backpack (bonus points if it can be recharged using your portable battery!) You can buy portable fans in the parks that also spritz water, but in my opinion, they are bulky and not worth the price tag. I found my favorite fan on Amazon for under $10! It has held up for dozens of Disney trips; you can find it here!

  1. Sunglasses/ Sunscreen

This one is a no-brainer for any trip to Florida. Get a reliable pair of sunglasses and your favorite nontoxic sunscreen before your Disney trip!

Bonus Tip: Bring a Magic Band!

Magic Bands can be super helpful depending on your Disney vacation plan. If you are staying on Disney World property you can use it to get into your room and pay for items/food. If you purchase lightning lanes, you can use it to tap into your reserved rides. On trips where we stayed on property and used lightning lanes, having our magic bands was a game changer that made our days so much easier! But on our trips where we have stayed off property and used stand by lanes, our magicband was only used for tapping into the park so we literally used it once or twice each day. All this to say, the value of bringing a Magic band depends on how you tailor your Disney vacation!

There you have it! My favorite items to bring along on Disney park days.

Have the most magical Disney vacation!
